How to Price a Digital Product in PKR (Without Underselling)

The most common mistake a new Pakistani seller makes is not a bad product - it is a price so low that buyers assume the file is thin. Pricing in PKR has its own logic, shaped by what local buyers are used to paying for courses, notes and templates. Here is what works on the marketplace today.

1. The bands buyers are comfortable with

Buyers do not evaluate a price in isolation; they slot it into a familiar band. Landing inside a band converts better than sitting between two.

  1. Rs 299 - 499

    Entry

Single template, short notes pack, checklist. Impulse purchase, no deliberation.

  2. Rs 999 - 1,499

    Core

Full ebook, exam notes set, template bundle. The strongest all-round band.

  3. Rs 1,999 - 2,999

    Premium

Short video course, complete business kit, multi-file system.

  4. Rs 4,999+

    High

Long course with real outcomes; needs proof - reviews, previews, seller reputation.

2. Anchor pricing, used honestly

An anchor price is the original price shown struck through next to your live price. Set it 40 to 60 percent above what you charge and the listing carries a discount badge in search and category pages.

Keep it credible. An anchor of Rs 12,000 on a Rs 999 ebook reads as a gimmick and quietly costs you trust, which is harder to win back than a sale.

3. Why very low prices backfire

At Rs 150 a buyer does not think 'bargain', they think 'probably scraped from the internet'. Price is the only quality signal available before download, and digital buyers use it heavily.

Low prices also make the maths impossible. At Rs 150 you need roughly seven times the volume of a Rs 999 product to reach the same income, from the same amount of promotion.

4. When to raise your price

Raise it once you have social proof: a handful of reviews, a visible sales count, a complete storefront. Those are the things that justify a higher number to a stranger.

Raise it in steps and watch conversion for two weeks. If sales hold, the old price was leaving money behind. Existing buyers keep their purchase - a price change never affects a completed order.

  1. 5+ positive reviews

    Move up one band.

  2. Consistent weekly sales

Test a 20 percent increase before adding new content.

  3. You added real material

Price the new version properly rather than apologising for it.

5. Bundles beat discounts

Discounting trains buyers to wait for the next sale. Bundling raises the average order value without devaluing anything: sell the notes and the past-paper set together above the price of either alone.

A bundle also gives you a legitimate reason to contact past buyers, which a repeated discount does not.
